Food, glorious food

We harvested our first tomato from our garden today. Joshua couldn't wait to go pluck it off the vine for our dinner tonight!

Mmmmmmmmm... it was delicious!

Ella enjoyed some fresh tomato as well, after her cheerio appetizer courtesy of Caleb, who was trying to "help".

Donnie, we missed being able to share in the first fruits of our harvest with you. But don't worry, it didn't even come close to the Father's Day feast Joshua & Caleb prepared for you!

...A very memorable Father's Day dinner.

Quote of the week ~ by Caleb

Joshua & I were discussing what kind of birthday we should plan for Caleb. After brainstorming some ideas we thought we would ask the birthday boy himself:
Me: "Caleb, what kind of birthday party do you want?"
CJ: "Uhhhh, cake!"
Me: "Ok, we can have cake. But what do you want on your cake?"
CJ: "Uhhhh, butter!"

(that's my boy)

Boys will be boys

(I was wondering what was taking them so long to put their clothes away.)

Laundry vs memories made

Does anyone else feel like the summer is flying by even though it just started? We've been so busy around here & I have so many things to post that I don't know where to start. We planted our first garden, Joshua's been playing soccer, Ella is pulling herself up in her crib & crawling, & Caleb is...well...still making us laugh! But let's just start with today & go from there.

Monday morning greeted me like usual...dishes to be put away, cleaning to do, & piles of sweaty clothes from a weekend of soccer games, yard work, light saber wars, & other outdoor fun. However I was also greeted by a beautiful summer morning, two little boys bursting with energy, a little girl who looks very cute in a sun hat, a new slip 'n' slide, & a cold watermelon that insists on being eaten outside. Well, as hard as it was to say "no" to that pile of laundry, (I mean, what if it disappears?) I decided to dig out the swim trunks, sun hat, & sunscreen & head outside. Here is a sneek peek at our backyard fun. Who needs the beach! (Ok, I do - but this will do for now)

You can see more pictures here. Now it's 1:00 & I have one baby girl off to dreamland, one 2 year old cuddled in bed with his thumb & blankie on his way to dreamland, one 6 year old working on a puppet show downstairs (show starts @ 3:00, I'm told) & wouldn't you know it...the laundry is STILL there (with the addition of some grass stained swim trunks).

Quote for the day

by Joshua:
"Ya know what Mom? I bet God can still see himself even with his eyes closed, and without a mirror!"
